Found this on another forum, apparently DarkBASIC Pro can now be downloaded for free from here.
It appears to be paid for by banner adverts at the bottom of the IDE but over than that is supposed to be identical to the paid version in every way.

First I was going to delete this because I assumed it was piracy, then I was shocked to see it was posted by you, then I was shocked to see it was perfectly legal and was on the official site.
Good find, that's going to cause some free languages a few problems, as far as a game making tool goes DBPro is very impressive.

I've been spamming the link to the free DarkBASIC version on a few forums today. 
Now a friend on another forum has sent me a link asking me whether I knew the Unreal Game Engine SDK was available for free too from here.

If i run it the first time it will create a new syntax highlightning file and crashed on my XP.
i don't know why.

Did you make sure you registered it correctly; I've had no problems with it so-far.
