I'm getting an invalid floating point operation error when I try to start basic4gl 2.2.6 and then repeated access violation errors that appears each time I click OK and the only way out is to ctrl-alt-del and kill basic4gl. I have an IBM Aptiva 2153-E3N with a Riva TNT2 M64 card with the Nvidia 56.64 driver. Drivers newer than 56.64 doesn't work properly on my TNT2 card. I have an AMD K6-2/300 processor with 128MB of RAM.

I've found that some OpenGL cards/drivers don't like the way Basic4GL initialises the OpenGL state.
You can change the way Basic4GL does this in the options window, where it says "To Reset OpenGL".
However if you can't get to the options window, and you feel confident modifying your windows registry, you can try the following:
Run regedit (Start menu->Run... then type "regedit") Open the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tom\Basic4GLv2 (If it doesn't exist, you'll need to create it.) Look for the value: ResetGLMode Again if it doesn't exist, you'll need to create it (create it as a DWORD value).
Change this value to 2. Run Basic4GL
If this doesn't work, change the value to 1, then try again. If this doesn't work, change the value to 0, then try again.
I do realise this is a pretty nasty way to get things working. I'll probably include a "safe mode" concept in future versions so that people can get it running far enough to get to the options dialog, so they can try to find some settings that work.

I have just recently been getting the same problem Keith was referring to, registry changes did not help. Any other ideas? Even though Tom is never on T_T

I've never encountered this error personally so I can only give you some general help. Try uninstalling Basic4GL, updating your graphics drivers, rebooting your computer. Then use a registry cleaner like CCleaner or Eusing then install Basic4GL again.

I tried what you suggested with both cleaners. and I believe it started happening after my video driver updated.. edit:// forgot to mention, i have the most up to date driver.

Have you tried changing the Reset OpenGL Options from within the IDE? It looks like a lot of people are getting the same error but for many different reasons.

I tried changing it as tom suggested in regedit but I am not able to get to that menu, as soon as the ide opens i get the errors, same as what Keith had mentioned some time ago. I would just like an alternative fix to rolling back the driver although I don't foresee that happening :\
