Basic4GL v2.4.1 has been released. Download from the main website. Usual story.
This one has the same features as "beta" v2.4.0 that was unofficially released about a week ago, which - for those who missed it - has a new sound engine, that can play multiple sounds at a time and Ogg Vorbis music files.
I recommend grabbing this even if you do have v2.4.0 as there have been some bug-fixes with the sound engine.
Distribution of standalone exes now works like this: If your program plays sounds or music, you must distribute the OpenAL installer (and get people to run it). And you must also distribute a file called B4GLSound.dll, which must be placed in the same folder as your executable. If you don't do this, your program will still run, it just wont make any sound. Of course if your program doesn't make any sound anyway, you don't need to worry about this. Just distribute the exe as per normal.
I've also fixed up the example programs that get installed with Basic4GL. They should all run properly now.
Enjoy, -Tom

This is great news... Just when I thought you had gone MIA, you show up and deliver the release that everyone has been waiting for! I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that I really do appreciate you continuing to work on basic4gl even though you are always so busy... You are the man Tom.

Thats excellent its good that people who don't use sound don't have to bulk up executables with .dll files and installers for features we don't use.
Excellent work Tom and just to back up davy's point, I don't think anyone minds waiting a bit for the next release when the end product makes such positive leaps in b4gl development.
Cheers
Jon
