i think you need to include several libraries. You should really try to compile it using code::blocks for starters.

I tried code blocks but i didnt know if i had a compiler or just an IDE i think their was a compiler but nothing was working. i did get succesful compilations with vc++ 6 introductory edition but i cant redistribute.

Download the version of code::blocks that comes with MingW, then you'll have everything you need to get going. VC++ Express requires you to install a platform SDK to create native applications, which means it sucks ass...

for VS express 2005 or 2008 you need an extra download the PSDK www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=0BAF2B35-C656-4969-ACE8-E4C0C0716ADB&displaylang=en(and you must modify one file) * after this you can create all types of binarys (create new project will now have more entrys) console apps *.exe (C and C++) libs static *.lib (C and C++) dynamic libs *.dll (C and C++) GUI apps *.exe (C and C++) Controls *.ocx (C++ only) typlib *.tbl (C++ only) ... first time i tryed VS express i was running in to same problem (you must first register your version of windows to download the PSDK) (*) edit "AppSettings.htm" in folder “%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Visual Studio 5 (or 8)\VC\VCWizards\AppWiz\Generic\Application\html\1033" near code lines 440 - 444 write "//" in front of the lines // WIN_APP.disabled = true; // WIN_APP_LABEL.disabled = true; // DLL_APP.disabled = true; // DLL_APP_LABEL.disabled = true; NOTE: VS express should not running while you edit this file :-) after next start all should now works fine of course sometimes you must add the include path's from the new installed PSDK (in the project options) Joshy
