A new take on the old ASCII smiley face, because thats how you feel after 16 hours of coding.

Basic4GL is a free BASIC programming language for Win32 platforms with built in OpenGL v1.1 support. Basic4GL is a compiler and virtual machine, using a easy, simple syntax based on traditional BASIC. It is designed to be an easy to learn, easy to use language for writing games, 3D demos and utilities without all the setup hassle associated with most language compilers. Yeah, this is the topic I've been waiting to post! Yeah traditional BASIC, mmm, this is what I find wrong: The Integer datatype is 'traditionally' 16-Bit, the Long datatype is 32-Bit. We used to open files using this syntax, Open [Filename$] For [Filemode%] As [Filenumber%] . We had loops like Do Until ([Condition]) ' put loop code here Loop Look, I've said it 10 times now, if you want a definition of the BASIC language download VBDOS (Visual Basic for DOS 1.0) and use it's IDE to browse though all those help files. This is the only objections I have with Basic4GL, I had a good think about the DLLs going under the name Plugins and thought, that actually makes it more like a beginners tool. If anyone does want to go hardcore on thier knowalge of computer programming goto www.emu8086.com, yeah it's really for Emues (Australians know what I mean), LoL.

It says 'based', I would say if they are the only things you can pick out which don't conform to what you think is a traditional syntax then Basic4gl can say that it is 'based' on traditional BASIC syntax. I've used emu8086 before, its fun! A nice way to get into assembly programming.

Look at the purpose of the language on the front page. It is for beginners. I don't get why you think that's wrong.

His problem is that he's stuck in the past. What makes it worse is that if his profile is correct he could have barely started programming back when languages like Turbo Pascal and VBDos were in their prime (unless he was a very clever child). Whats more is that *really* traditional basic had line numbers, no labels, few conditional constructs etc, yet the languages he quotes don't have those features (or at least don't force you to use them).
Do until however would be useful. I don't think b4gl has any post conditional loops. Turns out b4gl does have do loop until and do loop while XD.
