I would just like to thank everyone, from the older members to the newest for using Basic4GL and being an active member of the Boards! Just thought that maybe some people would like to agree with me and thank the other members as well, if not...oh well, hehe.

Yeah odama is right, there are a lot of projects where other languages such as Python or Java would be easier to use & get the job completed sooner.

The idea that C++ is the ultimate language is elitest rubbish, I never code in C++ and I'm getting along fine.

ok i disagree and hold this opinion first off basic4gl is much easier but slower, C++ is much harder but if you take the time will be mmuch quicker, basic4gl limits you in your abilitys to create apps, C++ with plugins and libraries pretty mcuh give you the abilty to do whattever you want, but its takes much much more time, but the porduct is much better and every detailt can be added or changed in C++ unlike basic4gl, so it comes down to this, basic4gl = less time, less options, limited abilitys. C++ = more time, more options, much more abilitys

Ok, so your not disagreeing at all...If you want to prototype something basic4gl is far far better than C++ because it takes a lot less time to throw something together. Similarly try doing anything web based in C++, it's not gonna happen. In that respect it's beaten hands down by a tonne of other languages. I could go on and on but there's no need, I've proved my point.
C++ isn't the be all and end all, far from it.

Im behind, Supermonkey on this one SMC, If there is something you think cannot be done with bas4gl, then use Plugins to add things, And as far as making Apps if your a good programmer then you could easily make buttons and menus and other gui elements.

Your totally missing what everyone is saying... C++ Isn't the answer in every situation, in fact you've highlighted one of the (shrinking number of) areas where C++ is still predominantly used over any other language and that's in games development. Outside of that industry however there are alot of other languages used. Some of which are alot better than C++ for their chosen purpose. The thing to do is choose a language that fits the purpose and C++ certainly does not fit every purpose.
All in all what I'm saying is the language X vs language Y debate is totally redundant nowadays, when there are so many choices each with their own merits.
