I ain't really tried many langauges. Basic4GL & C++ for the plugins make a perfect combination though. - Nicky

Code::Blocks is the editor you write your code in, the compiler is GCC.

Don't worry about it, lol. I voted for other as a lot of MMORPGs use Lua as a scripting language. In fact according to Wikipedia, Psychonauts uses more Lua than C++.

If you're interested, it can be downloaded from this site. It's quite small; under a Megabyte in size & it's free. But I recommend you write your programs in Basic4GL at the moment. Once you're confident using it you should then move onto other programming languages.

If you have to ask the question you shouldn't be attempting such a complex project. I'll also point you here as to why I think these kind of "which language is best" threads are totally pointless. Happy hunting!
