Hello: * It's - been a long time since I've done Basic4GL. I have since downloaded the latest version, 2.5.1 and have noticed that the version I had prior, 2.4.3 allowed you to change the editor typeface and size, you cannot do so in 2.5.1 or is there a way ? It's hard to see the tiny print if you can't change the size or font. How do you do so ? Please let me know. Thanks ! And here is one of the busy programs I wrote yesteryear. ' // David's Smaller Disco Cube 08/13/2006 ' BIG thanks to DAVY for debugging original !
textmode(text_buffered) dim a,i,j,x,y,z,cube$,c$ cube$="bcazfgeddfbzegcafgcbdeaz" do glClear (GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT or GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT) glLoadIdentity():glTranslatef(0,0,-4) glRotatef(a/8,1,0,0):glRotatef(a/9,0,1,0) for i=0 to 5 glbegin(gl_quads) for j=1 to 4 c$=mid$(cube$,j+i*4,1):x=-1:y=-1:z=-1 if c$="a"or c$="c"or c$="e"or c$="g"then x=1endif if c$="b"or c$="c"or c$="f"or c$="g"then y=1endif if c$="d"or c$="e"or c$="f"or c$="g"then z=1endif glvertex3f(x,y,z):gosub colr next next glend() swapbuffers() sleep(16) loop colr:glcolor3f(sin(a*28),sin(a*33),sin(a*11)):a=a+1:return

Hi dw, it's good to see you back. When Tom brought out version 2.4.9 of Basic4GL he rewrote a lot of the editor code and removed the ability to change the colour & fonts. You can read more in this thread.

Hi Matthew: * Thanks for the quick reply ! Left a reply in the thread you listed. Hopefully Tom or (WIP?) will allow for font change. I'm having a hard time seeing that small print. If you're wondering why I'm back ... well, I had a very serious HD crash recently and although a lot (besides my current work) was already backed up, programming in DragonBASIC for GBA was no picnic; I'm not about to re-code all that, however, I still have quite-a bit of work done regarding S3 in Bagel (B4GL) backed up. That plus the fact it seems the true GBA unit is now resting with GBC, defunct, no new games will be made or sold. Add to that the TINY screen the real GBA has and we're talking something Worldbuilders prolly don't want to mess with, no matter how well written it is. I remember writing code in Bagel and seeing just how quickly it could update a scrolling map field including resizing/rotating, it's a wonderful engine for special FX in a RPGMaker, and I can still keep the brains part of the coding in GFA. Maybe I owe it to my snoozing Worldbuilders to get with the times and make use of what nearly all computers have, a high-speed graphics accelerator card for OpenGL graphics.

Programming for GBA? Awesome! I'm gonna hafta learn it! Anyway, I joined the community too late to have known that the editor ever allowed you to change font sizes and colors. It would be nice, but I probably wouldn't use such a feature, since I like the way it looks on my screen. However, I can see what the problem would be on high res screens with low physical sizes. The GBA isn't as dead as GBC is. GBC only had about 5 good games. Nobody really adopted it before the GBA came along. However, for the sake of those 5 good games for GBC and the myriad of good games for the original GB, I will never relinquish the GBA! (until it dies and I'm forced to resort to emulators)

yeah, it's got a couple of issues with refreshing font colors inside included files, buts nothing too anoying. The most important thing is it's back (gotta love the purple colors or the black-green-linux-hacker combination )

Noticed, and already changed font size to 14. (Yes I'm blind as a molerat !) Now Tom, if you add a text/instruct/note area for people with their DLLs, a 4th tab from: [F]ile, lug-in Libraries, not Functions, not Constants, not Structures, YES Author which gives notes about self, site, and complete docs on their DLL, would help as I'm still trying to get docs for the 2dgraphic library.
