Basic4gl is an excellent learning tool Id love to see it blossom. but i haven seen anyone on here other than Matthew and a few coders on here. What can we all do as a community to improve the experience here as well as get some life back into this language. I have thought about writing a book as a project for my computer science class and wondered if maybe that as well as some advertising of the language could ultimately help to convince people that this language is worth a run. -darkjester

I've been thinking for some time too about how we could help to increase the number of people who use the forum. But realistically I think that the only person who can do that is Tom by releasing a new version of Basic4GL with some genuinely new features. But he's working on some other projects so I'm not sure when that's going to happen.
If you want to help promote it though go-ahead. Me & some of the others who still hang around the forum could help if you need it.

I've been off and on with my engine, but got into heavy redesigning for the past week or so. Been using gamedev.net for references more so than these forums but I always come on at least every other day.

If i could get the newest source to compile i know there are some new features already in there that need unlocked. And im pretty sure with some work i could add function pointers to the language. as well as true dynamic memory. -darkjester

I think if Tom could update the code to the new version of Basic4GL, compilation would be much easier.

He has some. theres definatly some potential. My computer science teacher specializes in compiler development so i have her taking a look at it to give me some pointers so hopefully i can at least get the main code to compile for once. im just having trouble finding binaries for all the libraries.

When I attempted to build the source a few years ago, I had to build my own version of Corona because the One supplied with the source was compiled with an older version of Visual Studio. It was quite a simple task though.
