I think 2d-based online rpg will be good....
Is it possible that anyone's home computer can turned into a small-sized server ??

Well a good genre game could be sci-fi because it's unique or even any other unique genre that hasn't been created much. Well if you could make a 3D Sprite Game maybe a 3D style online RPG with any genre that you like. Also you should make a game with a genre and style game you like as it will be easier to stay on task.
Thats my 2 cents

Sure. Will it perform well enough to be used? It depends on the type of game, and the skills of the coder. If it's a game where reaction time matters, it won't work as well. Especially if there are many people playing. If it's a turn-based game, on the other hand, that wouldn't be as big of a deal.
I don't know if you've ever played BYOND games, but that's basically what they do. Maybe some of them are on real servers, I don't know. But a lot of them are just hosted on normal people's PCs. The games work well enough that you can play some action-ish stuff, but you have to be on guard or the lag monster might get you...
Basically, things where you run around chasing people will mostly work, but things where you have to try to take aim and shoot will generally not.
You could maybe get around that by having the game use homing attacks. Just be sure to test it with as many people at once as you intend to use, from many different parts of the world, so you can get an idea of how it will perform. And make sure you have other people host it sometimes, so that you can be on the receiving end of the lag and get a better feel for how the game plays.
Also, there is a chance that the person who is hosting it is behind a firewall that won't let a server work very well. If it's the person's own firewall he can just open whichever ports he needs, no sweat. But if it is the ISP's firewall, he'd have to ask them to allow an exception for him. I have no idea how likely they are to cooperate. In my case, I'm behind a campus firewall, but they let us opt out if we want to.
EDIT: Though I should mention that I have no idea whether B4GL is capable of doing this. I wouldn't be surprised if it could. If not, somebody could just write a plugin that would support it.
