I've been working on a new website. Here's what I have so far www.basic4gl.net/Site.phpIt's still not finished. What I'd like to do is replace the old Windows XP/Windows 98 screenshots with some shinier and cooler ones, from newer BASIC programs. So if you've got a cool screenshot, or a cool program I can take a screen shot of, don't be shy. (I know Djlinux has some pretty awesome looking car renders. Are you keen to donate an image or two?) -Tom

A small suggestion would be to move the ads and have the active menu tab have the same gradient as the headers do, it'd highlight the active page a little more. The logo could use an update as well and I'd consider bumping the width of the main div up from 800 px to 960px, 800x600 is old hat nowadays. You might want to take a look at 960.gs it's a CSS grid system (CSS tables if you like), it's very good for whipping up pleasant, standards compliant sites rapidly. Overall with a bit of polish it could look nicer than the current site.

My suggestion is maybe design a new demo page with some newer demos. I would like to contribute Art Studio Basic to the demo section, but i would prefer if you could have it link to my download page that way i can update the download throughout development of program. That way people can download an up-to-date version, and you won't have to store the file on your website. Art Studio Basic: Forum ThreadDownload PageAttachments:

The Plugin page is totaly out of date and need a more powerfull update.
With the Physicsengine Plugin and the Soundengine plugin you can create really modern games.
I'm working on one of it since a month or two.
I promote B4GL on Youtube with few clips.

Cheers for the screenshots and advice so far.
Regarding the plugins, yeah, it could use a little bit of re-organisation. I'm thinking the downloads page can have the main program and plugins. More advanced stuff like source code and the plugin DLL SDK can move to another page (or off the site altogether if I get things setup on source-forge). I'm thinking the demos page needs to be broken up into sub-pages too.
I'm also looking at options to find ways to make the site a little bit easier to update. I'd like to be able to add news, demos and plugins without having to update and re-upload a whole new website. It might also be helpful if I could delegate some of the responsibilities when I'm not around. It would help keep things up-to-date. Of course it depends on what the hosting provider has to offer, but I might start looking into some simple php.

I'd be happy to install joomla for you so you can manage site content without having to modify the site itself. Your host would need PHP/MYSQL support but it'd make the site very easy to update.

Cheers, but I've actually been having a bit of fun learing php, so I'll probably stick with it for now. The new (still very much unfinished) site is at www.basic4gl.net/Site.php if anyone wants a look. I've rigged up the demos page to scan a folder on the webserver and show what's in there. I may go as far as adding some sort of admin login and upload page. -Tom

Hey Joshy, is there somewhere I can get an up-to-date list of the plugins that you've created?

Hey Joshy, is there somewhere I can get an up-to-date list of the plugins that you've created? Of course you can copy the links from here: basic4gl.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=dllpcCool things are FreeSound, Collision detection, Game Physics, Video Capture, TinyFont, but all others are ok too. Hello Tom, don't foreget the "Tiny TCP Plugin"
I solved one of the biggest problems.
How can find a client the current IP and PORT from running game server over the internet.
Ther is no BlitzBasic, PowerBasic, FreeBasic, PureBasic, ThinBasic, IWBasic or any other BASIC with this feature.

The new website is coming along. I could use some feedback as to how to make it better. I've put up all of DJLinux's plugins, because they are easy to find (due to the numerical naming system) and release quality. Does anyone have any other plugins that they want to submit for consideration on the main website? (They need to be stable and complete enough to be usable). www.basic4gl.net/Site.php

I like the new look! Just what the website needed. Can't think what else could be added...Maybe make a list of links on the tutorial page of the small step-by-step tutorials. There's quite a few round the forum what I can think of. Perfect site though! - Nicky
