First person to make a thread ;D What you think of JustBasic? I think its ok, but I hate the idea that its got commands to build circles, etc. I prefer Basic4GL where you just build it from scratch (Using OpenGL). Unless I'm missing something? I like JustBasic though because you can have the buttons, menus, etc. I think that what Basic4GL needs! (I should stop mentioning Basic4GL in this thread ) Downfall to it though is the editor, its aload of crap, hard to work with. I just wanted to share my opinion about Just Basic (i'm guessing this board is more for needing help with other langauges codes). - Nicky

Just BASIC is a good language for introducing people to BASIC without confusing them with OpenGL or other concepts.
It's also good for people who can remember using the older versions of BASIC.

Was that supposed to be funny? You've covered every language under the sun there but you don't like JustBasic . AS3 is like C#/Java syntactically. I like it a lot! Its a shame I don't get the chance to use it often.

Line numbering only existed in older forms of BASIC because the processors weren't sophisticated enough to know what line they were currently reading.

i remeber in basic when their were 2 commands 1 to prnt to the printer and one to display to the screen, although it may be just for the computer i was using.
what i love about basic is that its so limited its fun to find a work around for those limataions.
like the work around for getting dynamic arrays for basic4gl is to resize pointers.

I started on the ps2 playing around with yabasic. When I first started learning how to program I didn't even know what a programming language was . It's been a long journey into the world of computer-nerdiness. You technically resize the block of memory the pointer points to . I like BASIC because its easy to get into, as a beginner you don't have to understand a lot of underlying concepts to get going. By the way a damn good BASIC with GUI support is PureBASIC. Of course being a big .NET fan I should recommend VB but: a) Some people are opposed to the .NET framework b) I don't like VB, its compromised a lot of the BASIC-like syntax to fit around the .NET framework.
