I've just noticed that Basic4GL can now use a '1280 x 1024' screen resolution. Are there any chances of a '1280 x 800' resolution being supported? (It's what my laptop screen uses)

I think their should be a function to scan for supported resolutions and then set the one you want. Or maybe set odd resolutions using something simeler to qbasics way if setting resolutions like this
setscreenmode(1)
or
setscreenmode(1280, 800)
What do you think?

Hi Matthew,
But yes,
is it not "ResizeSpriteArea(1280x800)" what you want ?

It would also be handy if my screen resolution was supported.

My resolution ain't there either.
Matthew:
if you click on 'Use desktop' it should automaticailly do it for you. But as for me i'm happy with 800x600, but my resolution is 1440x900.

the problem is that you cannot use widescreen resolutions well with "use desktop" if you try, the image stretches. What I think should be done as at least a temporary fix to this problem is for tom to add support for widescren resolutions by blacking out the pixels on the right and left of the screen until you get a supported resolution. so the screen would have an unstretched image in the middle with black sidebars. Don't know if it will work the way he has it set up, but at least its something to think about.

If you select 'use desktop' and then use this: ResizeSpriteArea(WindowWidth(),WindowHeight()) ResizeTextArea(WindowWidth()/16,WindowHeight()/16)
This resizes the Sprite area to the pixel dimensions of your screen so that if you did SprSetPos(120,300) it would set the sprites position to 120 pixels accross and 300 pixels down, regardless of the screen resoloution. It also sets up the text area so that each letter is exactly 16*16 as this is the size of thi tiles on the font image. Its what I always use .

You're missing the point. I can already display an image which fills up the entire screen. The problem is when someone creates an exe which uses the full screen resolution. When I try to run the exe, it won't display on my widescreen laptop screen.

Well if you put a list of screen resolutions u want added and maybe tom will add it as a preset. so far we have 1) 1440x900 2) 1280x800
If any more are posted on this thread I will add them to my list

plugin can do that, as well as load a script that can change the resolution of the basic4gl window im fairly certain anyway.

Might be an indicator for Tom to add config for custom full-screen res. outside of 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024. I think zSNESw allows for this.
