I am starting work on an operating system based on the freeDOS kernel using the DOS version of FreeBASIC. I have 2 problems. 1- I am new to freeBASIC so I have lots to learn 2- I have to use Bochs to test it (Whitch is tedious). Overall I am making good progress, I have the boot screen sorted and I am working on a text based desktop. I would realy like to use basic4GL for some of it, but its not DOS compatible so I can't. any ideas? Boot screen:

Quite simply, use the IXTO method. IXTO was a method I developed years ago; the premise is simple. You want to use the calculations and data ability of one programming language but also want to use the media ability of the 2nd. To have both programs communicate with each other, have one constantly (maybe 1nce a second) look for a key file. When it is found, know that the other program created it, act on the instructions given, and return back. Leave both programs running simultaneously. Send messages back and forth between the two of them. This was the key method to use the B4GL Booster I wrote years ago, prior to extended DLL creation and use. Hope This Helps !

Physically impossible, basic4gl exes are win32, and so dont run on win16 (Its a DOS kernel) and you can only run pretty much one program at a time. (Unless one is purpose programmed to run in the background, for instance the CSDPMI drivers that let me use freeBASIC.) its a good idea tho, I thought up a similar way of doing things once...

Hi Wolfman:
* It works fine here. I'm running WinXP .. ?? .. don't think it needs any graphic card. Should run just fine in GDI graphic mode.
What is Windows 7 ?
