I think this demo's car physics are great.I'll work on this demo in my free times.with some engine sound and good car/environment models it will be a great game.maybe something like Midtown Madness what do you think?

That would be pretty interesting, you should build it if you know Basic4gl and how to develop sound unless Basic4gl comes with car driving sounds, but other than that go for ii i'll even help you if you want me to that is.

I could help you with that but it depends on what Modeling program you are using. I only know Maya

It doesnt matter which program you are using if it can export *.BGM's or I'll find an exporter for it...what is Maya's file format?

I know for one thing it uses .obj format, it also might support .bgm

Alright cool that will work but we have one problem though according to Tom Mulgrew there isn't a 3d Modelling program out there that is compatible with Basic4gl read Tom's reply in the 3rd party Modellers forum under the help forum, i think he said Basic4gl doesn't accept formats directly. Did you want this game to be 3d or no?

As I said I'll convert your .obj's to .bgm.Tom wrote the code to load and render .bgm's in his racing demo and beams so I'll use it.It will be 3d of course...

I have a very simple obj viewer that can export to bgm format (it's a Basic4GL program). I've posted it here: basic4gl.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=demo&action=display&thread=1087312696(It's posted in 2 parts, so you'll need to glue them back together.) As I mentioned, it's quite simple, and doesn't use all of the information in the obj format. But it's enough to get a model in bgm format, and can be extended fairly easily. (I used it for Beams, and the Racing demo.) -Tom

Tom, what should I do to texture my models? ("loadtexture, bindtexture"?)

You use Load Texture to load the textures and you use Bind Texture to activate the texture so your basically going to use both comands.

Is it supported by models?

Hi,
The bgm format has texture coordinates stored with each vertex. I was planning to have textured models, but my modelling skills aren't amazing, so I never got to that point.
So anyway, it could be extended fairly easily to support a single texture "skin" much like the md2 format. You'd just have to update the obj viewer to load in texture coordinates and write them into the bgm file. Then you'll need to update the bgm display code to load in a texture and use it when it draws the model.

Tom, It would be so cool if you make a tool which imports some formats like .3ds .obj .blabla then exports them to .bgm format with textures, keyframes and such."Basic4GL model viewer/exporter" hmm sounds great.(I dont have enough experience to code something like this .)
