Hey I'm still around, thought I'd give an update on what I do as this forum been abandoned a bit.
I now do 3D modeling (Autodesk 3D Max) and I've been asked to do work in a studio from a producer, so hopefully that goes well.
How has other people been and what you been upto?

Well I speak to you and Josh on Facebook quite often so you probably already know quite a lot about what's been going on but for everyone else, here goes.
Up until the end of Christmas I was working in the software section of a large toy store selling Xbox Ones and PS4s amongst other things, however the job was only temporary. I'm currently unemployed again but I've got another job interview on Friday, so I'm hoping to be back in work again soon.
I visit the forum everyday but rarely post anything because I'm not currently doing much programming but I feel that could change pretty soon.

Been busy with college, a part time job, mentoring a FIRST team, and various other responsibilities. However, I've been doing a lot of programming lately in FreeBasic with mockups in B4GL on a procedural generation engine, which I'll probably get around to posting demos once I finish this next *minor* fix I want to apply.
I'm also here nearly every day but haven't posted anything for whatever reason.
But good to know people are still here. I know this forum kinda has "cycles" in terms of activity, but it's been exceptionally quiet lately...

I'm still around, although I am very busy so sadly don't post very much. I left college (Not the same College as in the US btw, as I am from the UK) at about 2010 and got a job straight away as a lead developer making iOS, Android Apps and managing Servers running Apache PHP etc. I am in the process of leaving that job and will be joining this social network start up based in London, unii.com
I think whats caused Basic4GL Forums to die, is purely the lack of updates and increasing irrelevance / legacy, granted though the amazing work of developers here have given it extra life with plugins. When I grew up making apps for the desktop computer was still pretty cool, these days I would imagine the newer generation of programmers would rather learn to make apps that run on their phone, I did get a basic IDE like Basic4GL working with a language called squirrel (http://www.squirrel-lang.org/) working on my iPhone and even ported the asteroid demo from Basic4GL, I binded the Open Frameworks Library in order to handle the graphics etc (http://www.openframeworks.cc/).
On a side note would be pretty awesome if there was a version of Basic4GL that use Open Frameworks.

Just got done with my first year of college (in the US, since James says college in UK is different) and managed to get a job at my university working on their mobile app team about two months ago. I've been trying to make a game for Android the past few months but haven't had too much luck making much progress on it because of classwork; I may post a link here if I get anywhere with it soon-ish.
I occasionally randomly pop onto the forum but it seems kind of quiet whenever I show up. I'm finally on break so I might put something together with Basic4GL to share for old time's sake.
btw You guys are all awesome and thanks for helping me keep my enthusiasm about programming when I was first learning how to code several years ago, yes Basic4GL was my first programming language - not counting some kidBasic that I gave up on after a week or two because it was lame.

Computer Science, which was a bit odd since I was used to Java and the first thing my university teaches is C++; I think I enjoyed learning Assembly more than C++ honestly... Sorry for the late reply, I've been a bit busy the past week with birthday stuff and work.

I check back here very now and then. I am doing noting much really excep working part time for a cinema (Watching Free Movies ) and a little bit of programming. I have been learning or aleast reading tutorials on flash lately and with that have been able to get a good coding practice for using functions and other things. I'm thinking of porting the tutorial to basic4GL and I may create a function library for basic4GL if I get the time to A lot of my older code used a lot of goto when using basic4GL and now I may try and use functions or other things for a faster coding experience I seem to have a lot of time on my hands but I am not easily motivated to do much. I probably will slowly phase programming to very much a hobby I do in spare time especially since I will be starting uni this year studying business and in a more extent accounting (I am studying in Australia). Good to see there are people around here still

Awesome Well I've been learning more and more core libraries, lower level stuff as I have reached the limit of higher level languages and wish to be able to add my own power to things. Although I am still learning some new higher level stuff too, like Apple's new swift library. So I am in the process of learning the LLVM framework and using Basic4GL with it as it is something I understand.

An update from me, quite recently I did a Months work experience in a retail-store and almost got a job out of it but the new Manager decided she wasn't going to take on any new staff, which annoyed me. I've been visiting the library a lot too as they've had some new IT books on the shelves (plus it saves money buying them ;-)), I'm currently reading a book on web-design and a book about the Raspberry Pi.

This past semester, I was working on a software project for a class that involved motion detection on the Pi with a cheap webcam attached. It was pretty simple, and we used the OpenCV library to do most of the work for us, but it was a pretty good learning experience. However, I think I learned more about Linux then I ever felt the need to... Recently I've been doing some picking away at my terrain generator in Freebasic and finally got around to porting the noise generator to OpenCL (which, by the way, is too cool You should all learn it (lol)) Man, I joined these forums some 5~6 years back, glad to see people are still here.

Wow Shadow looks like you have been have fun I have now been at University for 8 weeks or 2 months been finding it very easy (I am only doing a Diploma though so I can get in to the Bachelor Course) so I have been finding I have spare time unlike my girlfriend who is studying law and is always constantly busy. So I have been thinking about creating games for the 100 millionth time since I joined these forums in 2008. I decided to use Basic4GL for my games as well anything I have attempted in the past I managed to get further in Basic4GL than any other language and hopefully this time I can convert it into a full game I will be reviving my old game projects as they are pretty much the same game projects I have been wanting to make since I started in this forum. The first one is Company World as a easy see how it goes project and hence will be just some fun it may become a full game but it may also become a dead project after a lot of versions. Since the restart of the project today I have gotten things I never thought of trying before and it worked to my surprise I am also trying to remember how to code in Basic4GL again. With this in mind hopefully I will have a version to show for by the end of next week. Ok so this become a longer post than I intended have fun guys and hope to hear back from anyone on the community (if there is anyone here anymore)

I've been meaning to post but have been quite busy recently. After finding out that Wikispaces is no-longer supporting non-educational Wikis, I had to spend a few hours downloading all my wiki pages and files. Real life is both frantic and boring simultaneously too, tomorrow I'm taking one of my cats to the Vets early in the morning to be neutered, then I've got to go shopping and finally I've got a lot of ironing to do, LOL. :-|
