This is a demo version of my game engine. There are no exe's so you WILL need basic4gl to run it. There is a level editor as well as a model texture... er. It doesnt have alot of tutorial on it, so you will have to go through the code and try to figure things out. This is just a demo release, I am working on some routines that aren't in this version because they are still kindof iffy. There is a file called t1.txt in the files folder... that is your texture file. The first line tells how many textures will be in the texturepack and then the rest of the lines are the texture locations. The script file is the script for the game... I warn you, the script engine is kindof odd right now, I will try to write a tutorial when I get to it. Other then that... Temp.txt is the default level in the game... You have to change the level$ variable in the game to load another level, otherwise, save your levels over that one, but remember to change the script before loading your levels or it will do funny things (unlike tom green). Anyway, enjoy.

I`m FASCINATED ! Great start, and hope you finish it off, becouse it has great potential ! p.s. I think that you are one, if not the one, of best basic4gl programmers here, so, go on...make few impressive demos..

Wow, thanks. Hey, if you, or anybody has any interest in helping me make this engine... Jump in. I'll need all the help I can get in order to complete some of the plans I have. And if you find any bugs, be sure to email me (wybiral@aol.com). Also, reviews and suggestions would be great. I will write a tutorial.... But I am so afraid to because of how rapidly the code has been changing. If I write one now, it will probably have to be rewritten in like a week. If you have any questions about this version, I can help though. But I think the best solution would be to look through the code and try to find what you are looking for. So yeah, if you are interested, get ahold of me

You dont need to write any tutors yet, finish it first, p.s. Sure i`ll try to help out Though it will take me some time to study the engine first.

Great, just email me or something. Do you have any work I could look over and maybe catch a feel for your style (and I dont mean judge, I just mean something to get familiar with your style of writting/programming as I feel this is very important to any project. We will have to get a feel for each other way of doing things) And if you find any bugs or anything just try to keep track so I can do something about them. And if you're curious about anything in the code, just email me and I will explain it to you. Ok, cool, I'll catch you later

Oh yeah, interestingly enough... It was Tom's walkdemo that lead me to creating that engine. I first added collision... Then I made the levels loadable from a file. Then I made it have several levels of blocks, so your level could be a cube instead of just one y plane. Then I scrapped that and made the editor which loaded and saved the blocks as if they were a type of model. And with about 10000 other changes I have what it is now (and some more features on reserve for when I finish them) But there may just be a word or two of toms program still left in there somewhere... lol. So basically, I have Tom to credit for the program I made it with and the program I made it from.

p.s. There is a place to upload your basic4gl projects to, basic4gl.wikispaces.com/You must register first, but when you do, you can upload unlimited number of files..

You are right about the editor though, you need to make a clickable gui, tell you what, if you decided to FINISH this engine off, i will make the level editor (in another language unfortionatly), but it will work good, fast, etc. no problem, i just need a list from you of what all capabillities i need to build in, and construction of exported files, and construction of your model files, and thats it.

Ok, please make a list of things your engine is/is going to be of capable of doing, i mean not that, i want a list of what all functions should my EDITOR have. You can either mail it to me, or post it here, I`m unpatient to start working !

Looks like you know know what you're doing... I hope you stick with it and code up a good final product. I'd help, but I kinda moved to c/c++ after realizing my computer was too slow to run any massive programs in basic4gl (first post on these boards in a while!). But since I can't help with the coding, at least I can offer motivation! You can find my newest 3d world type program at my crappy geocities site- www.geocities.com/xenovacivus/index.htm . You'll be looking for a program called 3D basic4gl mapmaker- the first on the list. This is a completely unlimited 3d mapmaking program. You can make any polygon, anywhere, any size/angle/height/ect. It's even got a easy to use mouse clicking interface. You just walk around with this sphere in front of you. Click the mouse to drop a vertex- drop 3 or more vertices and press the space bar to make a polygon. Just play around with it- it's easy to pick up (I think), but if you have any questions be sure to E-mail me or post them. Bet you're motivated now, huh Davy? Muahaha!!! Have fun...
