hi! does it matter how long a .wav file is? I seem to have a problem playing sounds. Some of my wav files play ok, but some of them dont. I do
dim sound sound = loadsound ("blah.wav") playsound (sound)
and then sometimes it works fine, but some of my music files don't make a peep. The only difference i can see is maybe that the one's that don't play are slightly larger than the others - should that make a difference? (it could be where in the program i am making the sound play of course, but even when i just test a sound with the above code i have unpredictable results.) I'm learning basic4gl, i like it, i've been trying to grab what i can from python, vc++, visual basic, java and autoit - i should probably try and just learn one at a time. thanks for any help

I'm no expert but i'll try and help. You see from what you write all i can notice is that you arent saying precisely where the file is stored..Thats important.for example.
dim sound sound=loadsound("sounds\blah.wav") playsound(sound)
This is of course assuming that the blah wavesound is stored in the "sounds" file.Maybe your other wavs work because they are in your desktop or something and when you dont specify, maybe basic4gl takes it like its stored at the desktop.I wouldnt know.Like I said i'm new to ths stuff. tell me if this helps in anyway. Ps: from what i know (very little) the size doesnt matter (i've played entire album extract on this thing ;-)
Peace
